{"id":2001,"date":"2020-03-25T12:11:42","date_gmt":"2020-03-25T17:11:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spriska.com\/?p=2001"},"modified":"2020-03-25T12:11:42","modified_gmt":"2020-03-25T17:11:42","slug":"illinois-hospitality-industry-grant-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spriska.com\/?p=2001","title":{"rendered":"Illinois Hospitality Industry Grant Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Illinois Governor set to announce grant program for hospitality industry in Illinois<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"><strong>COVID-19 Emergency Small Business Assistance Initiatives<\/strong><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the leadership of Governor JB Pritzker, DCEO is\nworking with partners to launch emergency assistance programs for Illinois\nsmall businesses.&nbsp; These initiatives\ninclude:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hospitality Emergency Grant Program<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To help hospitality businesses make ends meet in the midst\nof the COVID-19 pandemic, DCEO is launching the Hospitality Emergency Grant\nProgram with $14 million drawn from funds originally budgeted for job training,\ntourism promotion, and other purposes.&nbsp;\nGrant funds are available to support working capital like payroll and\nrent, as well as job training, retraining, and technology to support shifts in\noperations, like increased pick-up and delivery. Bars and restaurants that\ngenerated between $500,000 and $1 million in revenue in 2019 are eligible for up\nto $25,000, and bars and restaurants that generated less than $500,000 in\nrevenue in 2019 are eligible for up to $10,000.&nbsp;\nHotels that generated less than $8M in revenue in 2019 are eligible for\nup to $50,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Who is eligible?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bars and restaurants with a valid license to serve food or\nliquor and who generated revenues of less than $1 million in 2019. Hotels with\na valid license (hotels, motels other lodging establishments) and who generated\nrevenues of less than $8 million in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>What can grant funds be used for?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For bars and restaurants, based on the businesses needs\nidentified in the grant application, funds can be used to support working\ncapital (rent, payroll, and other accounts payable), job training (such as new\npractices related to take out, delivery and sanitation) and technology enabling\nnew operations as well as other costs to implement that technology. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For hotels, funds can be used as working capital to support\nthe retention of employees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>How do businesses apply?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Businesses can submit an application online starting the\nafternoon of Wednesday, March 25, 2020. Applications for awards will be\naccepted until 5:00pm on April 1<sup>st<\/sup>. and winners will be chosen via a\nlottery within a few days of the deadline, therefore, there is no benefit to\nsubmitting an application first as long as a valid, complete application is\nreceived by the deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>How much money is available?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>$14 million is available under this program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Bars and restaurants that generated less than\n$500,000 in annual revenue last year will be eligible for up to $10,000.<\/li><li>Bars and restaurants that generated between\n$500,000 and $1M in annual revenue last year will be eligible for up to\n$25,000. <\/li><li>Hotels that generated less than $8 million in\nannual revenue last year will be eligible for up to $50,000. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Illinois Small Business Emergency Loan Fund<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DCEO and the Illinois Department of Financial and\nProfessional Regulation (IDFPR) are establishing the Illinois Small Business\nEmergency Loan Fund to offer small businesses low interest loans of up to\n$50,000.&nbsp; This fund will be managed by\nAccion and include lending partners identified by the State in partnership with\nthe IBA and CBAI.&nbsp; Loans will be\nsupported by at least a $20 million loan loss reserve with the state and IBA\nand CBAI working to increase this reserve further to leverage a larger overall\nlending pool.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Businesses located outside of the City of Chicago with fewer\nthan 50 workers and less than $3 million in revenue in 2019 will be eligible to\napply.&nbsp; Successful applicants will owe\nnothing for six months and will then begin making fixed payments at a below\nmarket interest rate for the remainder of a five-year loan term.
